The Problem with Ideology

This post from Megan McArdle is one of the few treatments of the financial crisis that is aware of the general problem of ideology in the face of a complex system.

It's sad that the Bush administration is on the way out... I could have made a fortune selling our current commander in chief talismans to keep anything from polar bears to bees away.

After all, the man needs to find SOMETHING to blame the disappearance of both species on... and if it's not going to be global warming or cellular networks, it might as well be my scientific black magic.
